..I read your article and some of the comments about voting or not a celebrity because of having the blood of an igorot and hardly accept himself as one. This is not about ethnicity, it is all about competition. Whether he is an igorot or not, if he deserves the vote then you have to vote him. In this article, you showed your weakness as a person or as a filipino in general. You should vote a person because he deserves it, not because he came from the same ethnicity. It is unfair to compare the behaviour of Paulo and Marky about accepting their ethnicity because they grew up in a parallel ethnic background. Marky grew up in a hardcore igorot community that is why he can comfortably say “I am an igorot”. If Paulo did have difficulty saying that “I am an igorot”, I don’t blame him because he grew up to group of people where even the smell of “etag” make them vomit. But it would be a shame to anybody who will say “I am igorot” just to get some vote or sympathy of the igorots. Don’t get me wrong, I am a pure blooded igorot and I will never use that just because of fame, because for me being an igorot is already a fame in my heart. Whether you are celebrity or lord of lords and you are an igorot, just be yourself and don’t ever misuse your being igorot or else the “anitos” will go after you. “Umali kau ketdi ta mensibo tako is pinikpikan. Mam-is nan etag na.”

If i am Paulo I just say I am half igorot. And I think he could gather more votes Because he came from differnt origen. And he is not really look like Igorot.

Igorota is not are not worse people but they are kind of people to be proud of.
Those who do not know really Igorot are the people who are ignorant. Igorot people are hardworking, they are not squaters, not beggars, they are hospitable, they are not ignorant most of the Igorots now are educated.They are good in farming, crafting, mining, singing, dancing, and so on . They have their own cultural Traditions that they are practising until now .. for more information go and visit the Cordilleran People and find out who they are … so do not look down on them because they are the best…

I was just wondering if the igorots were really resilient in not submitting to the white man during their occupation of the Philippines. I was curious how the Spanish trails were constructed in the igorot lands like those found in besao,sagada,maligcong,barlig and natonin. I made some inquiries about these trails from residents who knew the historical background of these infrastructures whose length stretch to hundreds of kilometers, they replied that it was constructed through a contribution of labor as their tax [vines] to the espanyol by the local residents. So that claims of some that the igorots were never subjugated by the white man may not be true after all.

ay, ngayon ko lang nabasa ito ah ! kaasi ka pay nga full blooded igorot ta ilibak mo. basta syak uray bicolano ti parents ko ipapilit ko nga igorotak, ta love ko ti cordillera, nagyannak dita baguio ti 3/4 of my life. uray ditoy russia ag t-shirt ak tatak na “IGOROTAK”.

in modern times, the igorots may be called Filipinos to manifest a national unity under the Philippine Archipelago. What makes the Igorot still distinct is that they still posses the ancient values and attitudes of valor and integrity which most Filipinos do not posses now (Look at the modern greek senate (Congress) and Joe De Venecia a clear example of a modern Julius Ceasar). The Igorots would not let themselves be oppressed, form the beginning since they do not want to be enslaved but to preserve their liberty whihc they loved thus they fight from the beginning. Unlike other Philippine historical events where others bow first and when oppressed; they fight; in my opinion there was a lot of fear within the pre-hispanic Filipinos or what may we call Romulo’s ancestors.
without prejudice to others, but i really hate it when a person talks ill about the igorots and describe us as if we are still cavemen especially so if the one speaking even looks like a dinosaur!!
mahiya naman sila!! still at this time Carlos Romulo is still alive.
it is up to us the modern Igorots to rebut his definition.
